A few notes about informants:

  • Sometimes when selecting "recruit informant" it carries out a prisoner search instead. A simple Save-Quit-Load fixes this for a while though.

  • When summoning informants, they are escorted to the security which is the shortest physical distance away rather than the shortest path. I have some prisoners taken on huge journeys round staff outer fences rather than to the security in the same cell block.

  • Once informants are summoned and then set back to idle (automatically set back to idle, not manually) the yellow 'has info' speech bubble does not go away.

  • This last one may just be me not finding it. I can not seem to be able to use the informants information (or phone tap for that matter). There seems to be no tab or markings on the map to indicate any hidden contraband, assassination plans, tunnels or trades.

Update:

It seems that my first point is a little more complicated.

It carries out what you last did to another prisoner. For example I put a prisoner into protective custody and then went to recruit an informant. Instead of them being recruited, they got put into protective custody. I then set them back to minimum security and the next attempt at recruiting informant, a few minutes later, changed their security to minimum.

Nice find, thank you for your bug. We were already aware of some of the issues you came across but have now discovered the "Sometimes when selecting "recruit informant" it carries out a prisoner search instead" issue.

the last one isn't just you. when I summon my informants they don't give me any information what so ever. so at this point recruiting them is pointless (at least for me) cant wait till this gets patched!
