Hygiene problem

Cant seem to get hygiene under controlled always critical and rioting because of it in the mornings any suggestions?

Also have showers in their cells and a large shower room.

What regime do you have and are they using the showers at all?

Most hygiene needs will go critical overnight. Putting an hour of Shower time on your regime immediately after Sleep will force them to use communal showers or cell showers. That's a big chunk out of the day but it handles an important need and you can promote multitasking by putting toilets, etc, in the shower rooms.

Inmates will also use Free-Time during the day to address their needs and you can support this by making showers more accessible, for example by building a few in the yard (which can also be used during Yard time).

You don't need the lockdown between the sleep and shower, really. Do you have showers in the cells or blocks or facilities?

Yeah I have showers in the cell plus a community shower near the canteen, problems not every inmate takes a shower.

If every cell has a shower they should all be using them during the Lockup time after sleeping, certainly during the Shower time and probably during the Free-Time if the Hygiene need is critical.

If some cells lack showers then put Shower immediately after Sleep so everyone should either shower in their cell or go to the communal shower. If you want to have Lockup time to improve your Punishment grading you can have this later in the day after primary needs have been satisfied.

Are all the showers properly connected to the water supply? A flashing blue icon indicates a broken shower. Remember that the small pipe has a limited range before it loses pressure.

Also if some inmates don't have a cell shower are there enough shower heads in the shower room, is the room properly labelled and does it take too long to walk there in the time available?

yes all showers are connected to water pipes no flashing blue icon, though majority take a shower there still are those that don't and always a small red meter left over in the morning.

Sounds like they're just being stubborn to me! Without knowing which inmates aren't showering or where there cells are it's a bit difficult to figure out the why.
